Once a customer replies on WhatsApp, a 24-hour conversation window opens and messages within that window are free. For North America (US & Canada), WhatsApp and SMS share the same rate and are grouped under a single notification tier. In other countries, WhatsApp and SMS usage may be tracked separately depending on local pricing and availability.
If you exceed your included usage limit, additional usage is billed at the overage rate for your plan. You'll be notified before reaching your limits.
A WhatsApp Conversation begins when a customer replies to your message. Before the customer replies, you can only send template messages, and each one is charged. Once the customer responds, a 24-hour conversation window opens, allowing you to send unlimited free-form messages at no extra charge until the window expires.
